Today at FASCINATE _ THE R (Osaka, Shinsaibashi), from {{widget type="Magento\\Catalog\\Block\\Category\\Widget\\Link" anchor_text="Olubiyi Thomas " title="Olubiyi Thomas " template="category/widget/link/link_inline.phtml" id_path="category/922"}} , we present a double breasted work jacket setup made of deadstock fabric.
Symbols of Resurrection in Greek Mythology
This season, the designer released a collection that mixes his own roots in West Africa, Scotland's Highlands region that he has been familiar with since childhood, and London, where he currently works, with local indigenous cultures and gorgeous costumes made from Victorian layers.
The 23SS features a mix of linen voile textiles inspired by British colonial summer outfits and traditional African mud-dyed textiles to depict the phoenix, a symbol of resurrection in Greek mythology.
With roots in Nigeria, Olubiyi has big doubts about the current fashion industry. Extremely tight business environment for creators, mass-produced depersonalized products, exploited producers, and discrimination against the African race.
Even when working for Alexander McQueen, one of the biggest names in fashion, with Kering, the fact that you are of African descent is often a disadvantage, and from those experiences, the brand operates with an opposite approach to the modern fashion business.
Model 181cm/58kg. Wearing size: Jacket/Size 2, Shirt/Size 2, Pants/Size 2, Shoes/Size 42.
Inspired by '50s railroad jackets
This work jacket is made from deadstock tablecloth fabric used in the '60s. The design was inspired by railroad jackets from the '50s in Scotland, where the designer emigrated from Nigeria and spent his youth.
Railroad jackets are a collective term for solidly tailored coveralls that were once valued for functionality and practicality by railroad workers and other workers, and are characterized by large pockets of high practicality.
Red woven with herringbone and stripes add a touch of brilliance to the overall look, creating a striking coordination as highlight for the coming season.
In the details, the stripes on the pockets are matched to create a good overall impression. The hem, sleeves, and upper pockets are cut off, allowing you to enjoy changes over time.
There's also a slit under the armpit to support both breathability and mobility.
Cropped drawstring trousers and an attractive floral jacquard shirt
Coordinate a pleated bib shirt with a '50s deadstock curtain as an inner. This unique view of the world is expressed by an attractive stain on floral jacquard not seen in modern times.
The long length and exquisite layers create a change in balance, producing a vertical silhouette.
This distinctive silhouette is a must-have for any Olubiyi Thomas outfit.
Set up bottoms are herringbone drawstring trousers made from the same material as the work jacket.
The design was inspired by the West African pirate pants, which are wide cropped pants. On the surface, there are only side pockets along the seam to remove as much detail as possible in this minimal design.
Like the work jacket, the hem is cut off and the waist has simple details tied with a draw cord. On the back side, the lining is lined to the inseam and the taped details on the sides are hand-crafted for a careful finish.
There are many other Olubiyi Thomas items in our store.
