African Style Charm - Brand's basic style with restocked drawstring trousers
African culture has influenced modern fashion, and its heterogeneous aesthetic has brought changes to summer styles.
The bold pattern, signature feature of the African style, creates dynamic impression and a sense of African nature.
This time, we will introduce the brand's basic style, based on the newly restocked all-pattern drawstring trousers.
The style is made with indigenous textiles from the designer's native West African country of Mali.
It is one of the most important textiles for the designer. It is made by sewing together fabrics that are only 10 cm to 15 cm wide one by one, dyed by hand with mud dyes, and woven with handspun or handwoven fabrics.
Each piece has different pattern, creating style with complete originality.
Model: 181 cm/58 kg Fitting size: shirt/size 46, pants/size 46, shoes/size 42.
Pirate pants made with traditional textiles from Republic of Mali
Olubiyi Thomas's designs are simple yet unique.
The bottoms that have been restocked this time reflect some of the designer's thinking.
The material is Bogolanfini, mud-dyed textile traditionally used by the Bambara people of Mali.
The patterns are not only decorative, but also have magical connotations for protection.
The cropped length pants are inspired by the designer's native West African pirate pants, with an inverted fabric at the back for an authentic look and cut-off hem for rough look.
The front slant pocket is functional but does not interfere with the design.
In addition, the waist is adjustable with simple drawcord, making it a must-have for any Olubiyi Thomas outfit.
Unique style combining 'Kimono-back cardigan' inspired by Japanese kimono and 'pleated bib shirt' using '50s deadstock curtains
The 'Kimono-back cardigan' is one of the brand's basic items, inspired by the Japanese style of kimono dressing.
This item has minimal design that makes the most of the material's pattern, eliminating all the lapels, front pockets and cuff buttons.
The functionality is flawless, with two front spots on the reverse side and pockets on the back.
Also, the cut-off hem is expected to change over time.
The shape of the cardigan is buttonless, but with the design of Alexander McQueen's former tailoring patterner, the fit is the tailored jacket itself.
The material is the same as the Bogolanfini mentioned above, and is dyed by hand mud dyeing.
The patterns are all randomly developed to express unique view of the world.
The inner layer of this cardigan is paired with long pleated bib shirt to create styling that brings a change in length.
The inner material is floral jacquard with deadstock curtain from the '50s, which is not available today, with an atmospheric stain that expresses unique world view.
