New items from Taiwanese brand CHIAHUNG SU , which FASCCINATE_THE R (Shinsaibashi, Osaka) has started handling from the 24SS (Spring-Summer) collection, have just arrived.
Before introducing the new items, let us give you a brief introduction of the brand.
CHIAHUNG SU
Chiahung Su is from Taiwan. He worked as a tailor-made men's suit maker in Taiwan for several years and learned the basics of dressmaking before moving to England. He studied menswear design at the London College of Fashion, where he earned a master's degree in fashion design technology.
In 2020, the designer founded his own eponymous brand, which debuted at the London Collections.
The brand concept is "Cultural Historical Sustainability," which explores and fuses various stories of Taiwanese culture and traditions from the immigration period of Southeast Asian countries to the modern indigenous culture, as well as the history and development process of East Asia.
The pieces, which incorporate tailoring details with various elements such as traditional Oriental costumes and vintage Western clothing, are dyed with natural dyes in the company's own atelier to produce complex and delicate colors, and combined with handmade textures and the expression of fabrics that remain rough, they evoke the beauty of imperfection and the emotions that arise in the passage of time.
Almost all of the fabrics and dyes used in the collection are natural materials. Vintage Japanese fabrics and traditional hand-woven fabrics from Taiwan's aboriginal tribes are carefully crafted stitch by stitch, from hand-dyeing to final hand-stitching, using traditional artisan techniques handed down from generation to generation.
The 2024 Spring/Summer collection expresses the process of mixing and merging different cultures of Taiwan, Japan, and Southeast Asian countries into one throughout the history from the Age of Discovery to the present.
The designs incorporate ethnic elements from Asian countries with Western tailoring details and techniques to create modern items.
The collection uses expressive fabrics hand-woven by artisans of Taiwan's indigenous Tayal tribe and vintage Japanese fabrics from the 1950s, dyed in unique colors using traditional natural dyes made from organic herbs in Taiwan and ancient artisan techniques.
For the launch of this line, we have ordered a total of 11 types of coats, jackets, shirts, and pants.
The items produced have a unique atmosphere that is both masculine and feminine, with a softness and strength that transcends gender boundaries.
There are still only a few stores in Japan that carry the brand, and recognition of the brand is still low, but it is a remarkable brand with a clear vision and firm philosophy, so please check it out. We hope that you will experience the brand's unique world view.
