What is Wild Silk?

Wild silk is silk taken from wild silkworms. Silkworms that make silk can be roughly divided into two types, "house silkworms" and "wild silkworms".
The common type is called the house silkworm, which is an insect domesticated for production and does not live as a wild animal.
On the other hand, "wild silkworm" as opposed to domestic silkworms, which are silkworms grown in a form close to nature in mountains and fields without much human control.
Silk taken from silkworms raised in this way has a different taste and characteristics from domestic silkworms. However, wild silkworms are not suitable for mass production because it is difficult to stabilize the harvest and quality of silkworms due to various reasons such as the length of time they are raised outdoors, changes in weather conditions, and damage from enemies.
Tussah silk with a rustic texture
The silk used this time is what is called Tussah silk, which is made in central India.
Tussah silk from "wild silkworms" grown by eating the leaves of the trees "Sal tree" and "Arjun" is characterized by higher ventilation and antibacterial properties than silk from domestic silkworms, as well as its high oil content, gloss, and thick fiber.
Also, when people think of silk, they imagine something smooth and soft. Tussah silk is hard to pick out thin and uniform long fibers, so the uneven knots, the difference in thickness, and the texture as shown in the picture are also big features. These make the fabric look rustic.
Tussah silk is hard to touch as it is, which is a problem, but DEVOA has solved this problem by giving a special softening treatment at the finishing stage of the fabric after kneading the fabric to soften it, producing a fabric that has a smooth touch and retains the unique function of Tussah silk.
