Today, {{widget type="Magento\\Catalog\\Block\\Category\\Widget\\Link" anchor_text="The Viridi-anne" title="The Viridi-anne" template="category/widget/link/link_inline.phtml" id_path="category/15"}} available at LOGY Kyoto, FASCINATE (Kitahorie), and The R (Minamihorie), we will introduce "Suzuko Momoyama Insecto Print Fabric Series"!
A special collection that features Suzuko Momoyama's delicate insect paintings on her clothes.
One of the most eye-catching items in this season's collection is the "The Viridi-anne x Artist Suzuko Momoyama" collaboration fabric series. This time, we will introduce the details of the collaboration.
This is actually the second collaboration between designers Okaniwa and Momoyama, and the first collaboration was in the 2021 spring/summer collection.
Okaniwa, the designer of The Viridi-anne, happened to get an art book, and the offer to use the work in the collection makes them meet.
*About Suzuko Momoyama
An insect painter. Born in Tokyo.
She has been especially fascinated by caterpillars since she was young, and she draws them while raising seasonal insects that he encounters in the trees and grass around her house.
The origin of painting is the observation sketch using a microscope that was taught in biology class.
She drew it with pen and ink on a piece of paper called Arche. *Please refer to the original picture below.
Suzuko Momoyama INSECTS 2
The collaboration was realized because it was a work that originally struck a chord with Okaniwa who also graduated from art school, but I personally feel that the sense of wanting to incorporate Momoyama's delicate insect paintings into the collection itself is a part that shines a "sense".
At the spring/summer collection in 2021, it was a colorful wear with insect patterns all over. This season, however, it is characterized by the use of a faded print that seems to blend well with the fabric and a finish that fits well to the skin.
Also, it can be used as an accent for inner wear of a jacket or coat.
The jacket and pants are a cotton linen compact weather cloth.
Made of firm and firm fabric with perfect strength throughout the year.
As for the shirt, it is made of the elastic fabric of "Lexell x Cotton" with a smooth and draped feel that is extremely comfortable to wear.
It feels comfortable even when worn directly on the skin.
Of course, it is comfortable to wear, but both are fabrics that are used for beautiful coloring of delicate insect pictures, so the pattern looks very beautiful.
It depends on the item, but black and ivory are available.
BLACK has a very good pattern so it is easy for anyone to take in, and IVORY has a clear and vivid insect picture, so you can enjoy the artistic pattern.

Plenty of lineup where you can enjoy the set-up
This item is made of the special fabric of "Suzuko Momoyama Insects Print", and it comes in 5 items.
Jacket, regular collar shirt, band collar shirt, wide pants and tapered pants.
It has a great atmosphere when worn as a set, so it is of course cool to wear it with the top and bottom together, and I personally wear a band collar shirt, but even if you wear it alone with simple slacks, it will accentuate your style and you can enjoy a unique style.
As you can see from the styling below, as mentioned before, the pattern fits very well, so the insect pattern is a mild finish, especially for black items.
Since it is a delicate painting with warmth by hand drawing, don't you want to take a close look at the fabric?
This is said to be a "work of art" with the perfect combination of the aesthetic sense of Momoyama and The Viridi-anne's Okaniwa.

We asked Suzuko Momoyama about the collaboration with The Viridi-anne.
Last year, I spoke to The Viridi-anne Okaniwa about the collaboration between The Viridi-anne and Suzuko Momoyama. This time, I was able to talk to Suzuko Momoyama a little bit, so I would like to introduce her impressions of the collaboration.
Q:Please let me know if you had any difficulties or enjoyed your collaboration with The Viridi-anne.
There was not a single difficulty in the production of the garments, but if I had to venture a guess, I would say that the first meetings were held at a time when COVID was just spreading, and we spread out the original drawings on a bench in Komazawa Park.
It was a windy day, and I held the original picture with my hand so that it would not be blown away, so it was a meeting like a blue sky solo exhibition.
In terms of fun, I enjoyed working with Mr. Okaniwa twice.
The first time is when you get the finished fabric and the second time is when you wear the finished clothes.
The illustration is on a piece of paper, but when it's printed on a piece of cloth, it leaves your hand and feels different.
Then, when the cloth is tailored and turned into clothes, there is another leap. In the case of insects, the "cloth" is a pupa, and the "clothes" is when the pupa emerges and becomes a butterfly and takes off.
The clothes of The Viridi-nne are comfortable to the skin and the silhouette is beautiful, so I have become a fan of them.
Size 1 is perfect for me as a woman. I would appreciate it if many people, both men and women, could pick it up.
*Excerpt from DM with Momoyama*
In Momoyama's impression of the collaboration, there is an expression that "When the cloth is tailored and changed into clothes, there is another leap; in insect terms, 'cloth' is a pupa and 'clothes' is a pupa that emerges into a butterfly and takes off.". I personally thought that the process of making clothes by developing original fabric from scratch like this time is similar to the process of larvae emerging and becoming butterflies.
If you know The Viridi-anne from long ago, you may have heard that there was a season in the past 2009 A/W collection with "Chrysalis" as the theme, but I think designer Okaniwa also had things that fascinated insects in the process of changing from larvae to adults, such as beauty and strength.

I have never met Momoyama, but I was impressed by his polite and kind correspondence throughout the DM. Thank you very much for taking time out of your busy schedule.
If you have time, please try this "Insects print fabric series" that is an original creation of a valuable art work from fabric.
